Job Description Avista is looking for an exceptional individual to provide technical leadership for our Data and all application development teams. The Data & AI Solution Architect must have both the curiosity, passion and skills to take our enterprise solutions and strategies to the next level. This person will work closely with other Solution Architects, Infrastructure Teams, Product Owners, Developers, and related disciplines on architecture, processes, environment configuration, multi-system data integrations, system deployments, and other improvements to rapidly deliver business value.
Requirements •Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related highly quantitative or analytical study; equivalent experience may be considered as well. A Master's Degree or PhD strongly preferred and 4+ years of experience.
•Minimum of seven years of experience architecting data solutions within new and traditional architectures, with proven experience in the new space across the whole lifecycle.
•Minimum of three years of experience in advanced statistical and machine learning environments, providing delivery of use cases with involvement in the whole lifecycle
•Experience working with large scale distributed and stream processing systems (Kafka, Spark, et.al.) and experience programming in Python, Java and/or Scala, R or another statistics oriented language
•Familiarity with IoT architectures, analytics and stream processing technologies in edge and IoT platform use cases
•A strong mathematics and statistics background is required, in addition to experience building complex classification models.
•Experience working in an enterprise environment, interacting with infrastructure and application domains to collaborate and coordinate project interdependencies
•Broad knowledge of software development and software testing methodologies along with change and configuration management practices
•Knowledge of security risks, issues and mitigations for in-house and third party developed applications.
•A firm understanding of emerging technology trends and their application to evolving business models, especially in the utility space
•Understanding of agile software development methodologies and how to support them with a flexible integrations architecture
•Familiarity with automated testing, deployment, continuous integration, and release engineering
•Practical expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimization, bottleneck problems analysis, etc.
•Knowledge of cloud deployment strategies and issues
•Exceptional interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
•Strong communication skills
