Under the supervision of the Kennel Manager, the employee will provide general care, cleaning, and feeding of animals housed at the Anchorage Animal
Care and Control Center (AACCC). The employee will also assist in maintaining and operating the center in a sanitary and efficient manner.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Employee will be required to work in a noisy, odorous environment; interact with the public in emotional and occasionally hostile situations; care
for and handle all animals in a safe, effective and humane manner; work all shifts required, sometimes on short notice; wear a prescribed uniform and maintain a neat appearance.
Must be able to clean and prepare floors and walls of kennels requiring the use of hoses, mops, squeegees and flexible-head scrub brushes.
Ability to perform repetitive up/down and sideways scrubbing and motion utilizing hands, arms and shoulders.
The mobility to bend and stoop, to access the top sides and back of stainless steel cages for cleaning purposes.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds for short distances.
Ability to walk, restrain and handle (utilizing leash, catch-pole, net or manual) different species of animals of all sizes.
