Scope of Work:

The Generator Technician - Class A will work on generators/engines from oil changes to complete overhaul on warrantable and non-warrantable items. Keep shop, shop tools and equipment in good working order. Assist in the building/fabricating of generators in the shop and help other technicians to get the project out the door. Also, assist with testing/load testing in the shop or in the field (as necessary) Operates a forklift to load and unload trucks for shipment to jobsites. Assists with training of other techs.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Must build and fabricate generators in the shop and in the field
  • Assist other technicians in completing and testing projects to meet deadlines
  • Assist with testing or load testing in the shop or in the field as necessary
  • Load and unload trucks for shipment
  • Promote good welfare among the company and its divisions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have 4 years previous experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to build and/or fabricate generators/engines
  • Must have knowledge of testing and load generators/engines.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Ohms, Power Formula, generator magnetism and how a generator works.
  • Trade School or special training preferred.

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Must be able to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by the Department of Transportation.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able work on generators/engines from oil changes to complete overhauls.
  • Must maintain the shop, shop tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Must have the ability to effectively operate a forklift.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days.
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently.
  • Must be courteous at all times and maintain good client relations.
  • Must promote and maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment.
  • Must meet minimum performance standards for all assignments.
  • Must protect the company assets and interests.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Overtime and weekend hours as necessary.
  • Outside work.
